G20 CODE
G20 CODE FOR CNC MILLING WITH FANUC CONTROLLER
THE G20 CODE IS BASICALLY USED TO DECLARE INCHES DIMENSIONS IN PROGRAM.
IN THE CNC MACHINES WE USE TWO TYPES OF DIMENSIONS:-
- PROGRAM DIMENSIONS ARE IN INCHES.
- PROGRAM DIMENSIONS ARE IN MILLIMETERS.
SO, IN THE SEVERAL COUNTRIES BOTH G20 AND G21 CODE IS COMMONLY USED. IN WHICH G20 IS TO DEFINE DIMENSIONS IN INCHES OR G21 CODE IS TO DEFINE DIMENSIONS IN MILLIMETERS. SOMEWHERE LIKE AUSTRALIA OR ANY OTHER COUNTRIES USE ONLY INCHES DIMENSIONS. SO AT THAT TYPE OF COUNTRIES, G20 IS COMMONLY USED.
MINIMUM INCREMENT IN INCHES:-
USUALLY, NOBODY GIVE ATTENTION ON INCREMENTAL POSITION OF THE WORKPIECE. THE USUAL MINIMUM INCREMENTAL IN INCHES IS ONE TEN- THOUSAND OF ONE INCH (0.0001).
EXAMPLE:-
SO HERE THE EXAMPLE FOR THE G20 CODE. WHERE THE DIMENSIONS ARE USED IN INCHES. NOW EVERY DIMENSION ARE USED IN THIS PROGRAM IS IN INCHES.

G20 is a very important code. Because it is modal, it can cause some serious issues if you forget and leave G21 on. Always make sure to use your safety lines!
